Objective Individual Combat Weapon
A review of the 21st Century's first super-weapon for the well-heeled infantryman and woman
The OICW is Heckler-Koch's contribution to the US Army. Along with three other companies, they constructed a package that seems rather nice.
How I heard of it:

Undoubtedly a nice bit of kit. Yes, it will be heavy, yes it will be prone to failure, at least to begin with. Yes, I would love one, even if I wasn't allowed any of the 20mm rounds... In theory, this could be one of the things that swings a battle for you. All you have to do is play Doom, or Quake, and imagine if you had one of these. Instead of pratting about trying to throw and bounce the bomb in just the right place to get the bugger round the corner, you just press a button, fire, and it works. In fact it is very, very close to the command detonation mines in Goldeneye. Throw it, and as it gets to the target, blow it in mid-air. You are the winner, as long as you aren't too close! Sadly, it would seem they are going to miss a few tricks with it, which I am not about to out-line here. All in all, however, it seems quite neat, and is a masterpiece of design. Officially, the bullet is dead, but until someone finds a replacement, this is the best thing you will get. Able to worry even medium tanks with a single gun, the Yanks will be running around blowing up the enemy with more skill than ever, unless they are trying not to kill them, in which case, they will get more of ours than theirs. (Did you know the USA killed more Coalition forces during the Gulf war than the Iraqis?)
